Throughout the centuries, to face the demand for the sacred and leisure qualities of the complex, the Bom Jesus Sanctuary was compelled to improve the space to better welcome all of those who wished to enjoy this environment with such a distinct identity.
Along with the main built set, other structures and spaces were designed, such as gardens, a lake, fountains, terraces, kiosks, hotels, and a Chalet. The archive is dedicated to preserve the entire collection of projects that were commissioned from reputed national architects who, in general, have left their imprint on the stones, for generations to come. Among several plans, elevations, outlines, and sketches, we find the signatures of Carlos Luís Ferreira da Cunha Amarante, Raúl Lino, João Almeida D'Oliveira and António Martins Ferreira.
