The paintings’ collection of the Memories center of Bom Jesus do Monte is constituted by a great legacy ranging from the sixteenth century to the twentieth century. In addition to the oil and watercolors sacred paintings, this collection includes numerous paintings of benefactors who over the centuries have contributed to the appreciation and preservation of the worship of Bom Jesus do Monte, as well as the maintenance of this sacred space. From this group, individuals such as Domingos António de Sequeira, Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho, António José Pereira, António Manuel da Fonseca, and Augusto Roquemont, stand out. Some of these pieces were ex-vows or offers given by the faithful people as a way of thanking a promise. These religious expressions are mostly present in the collection in the form of paintings, drawings, or small-sized naval replicas.
